Between late October and early November, Puerto Vallarta transforms into a vibrant setting where the ancient and the contemporary converge to honor the Day of the Dead. Here, I present the most complete experience, ideal for inspiring an authentic and soulful blog.

Day of the Dead in Puerto Vallarta 2025: Altars, Parades, and Living Culture by the Sea

🎟️ Major Holidays: “Remember Me” (October 30 – November 3)

• The Recuérdame Festival , based on the Malecón, Centro and Zona Romántica, includes a cultural platform with live music, projections (mapping), art exhibitions and tours of cemeteries.

• Its centerpiece is the monumental Catrina of more than 28 m , recognized in the Guinness Record for the second consecutive year, an iconic work that dominates the Malecón.

🌺 Isle of the Dead (November 1)

• This free celebration on Cuale River Island features community altars that include deceased pets, music, art, and face painting.

• Proceeds support local NGOs such as Vallarta Garden Club and Vallarta Cares.

🎉 November 2nd Parade

• The procession begins at the cemetery of the 5 de Diciembre neighborhood , goes through the streets of the center and concludes at Los Arcos del Malecón , with Catrina parades, music and folkloric dances.

🕯️ Altars and Offerings

• Traditional and artistic altars appear in plazas, markets, cultural centers and businesses throughout Vallarta.

• Includes offerings for deceased humans and pets, local gems such as bread of the dead, tamales, skulls, atole, and more.

🎭 Cultural Activities

• Open-air cinemas, folkloric ballet shows in Los Arcos and theatrical performances.

Art Walk and night markets are integrated into the festival, with galleries and crafts open in the evenings.
